Ochsner Children’s has achieved an important milestone when performing the first deformity surgery of the pediatric column assisted by robotics in Louisiana and the south of the Gulf. The procedure was carried out by the pediatric orthopedic surgeons of Ochsner Children’s, Ryan Farmer, MD and Lawrence Haber, MD, in a patient diagnosed with Scheuermann’s kyphosis, a spinal condition characterized by a curvature inclined severely in the spine. Surgery used the revolutionary Excelsiusgps® Robotic System of Globus Medical, a latest generation platform technology that improves the surgeon’s ability to plan and execute precise implants locations, significantly improving the safety and precision of spinal procedures.
