Advances of column surgery historical robotic column

Ochsner Children’s has achieved an important milestone when performing the first deformity surgery of the pediatric column assisted by robotics in Louisiana and the south of the Gulf. This recently completed procedure represents a significant step in patient safety and the precision that reaffirmed the leadership of Ochsner children in innovative pediatric orthopedic care.

The procedure was carried out by the pediatric orthopedic surgeons of Ochsner Children’s, Ryan Farmer, MD and Lawrence Haber, MD, in a patient diagnosed with Scheuermann’s kyphosis, a spinal condition characterized by a curvature inclined severely in the spine. Surgery used the revolutionary Excelsiusgps® Robotic System of Globus Medical, a latest generation platform technology that improves the surgeon’s ability to plan and execute precise implants locations, significantly improving the safety and precision of spinal procedures.

Robotics assisted surgery is at the forefront of pediatric column surgery and is a great victory for all our children with spinal conditions. With advanced images and computer guidance, we can place implants with greater safer precision surgery for our patients. ”

Dr. Ryan Farmer, MD, Ochsner Children’s Pediatric Orthouse Surgeon

The advantages of column column surgery assisted by Robot extend beyond precision. By incorporating this technology, Ochsner Children’s allows its surgical equipment to plan the procedures meticulously in advance, determining the size, trajectory and placement of each implant while improving control.

“This is an important step forward for families in Louisiana and the south of the Gulf,” said Dr. Haber, who also works as Ochsner’s pediatric orthopedics. “Our goal is always to make surgery safer, more precise and improve the results for children. This new procedure is a great time for pediatric care and a signal of what is possible when we explore innovative solutions to treat children with complex conditions.”

The integration of robotic technology into pediatric orthopedics marks the continuation of Ochsner’s legacy of pioneering advances in patient care. When adopting avant -garde solutions, Ochsner Children’s is shaping the future of pediatric medical care and reaffirming their role as a confidence partner for families looking for expert medical treatment.
