Cold temperatures are expected to continue with frost overnight and a health alert in some parts of the UK, the Met Office said.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a yellow health alert for a cold, which will last until midday on December 27 for the south west of England.
Low temperatures are likely to have minor impacts on health and social care services, including “increased use of health services by vulnerable people” and “increased risk to the lives of vulnerable people”, according to the UKHSA.
Frost is likely overnight on Boxing Day, Met Office meteorologist Zoe Hutin said.
“On Boxing Day we’ll see some good spells of sunshine, we’ll see a bit of cloud for the south and northwest, some light rain, but for the vast majority it will be dry,” he said.
“Although there will still be a breeze, it will not be as windy as it was on Christmas Day.
“It will still be cold, maximum temperatures will be between 6 and 7°C, in the south it will feel closer to 4 to 5°C.
“There is little chance of snow, it is not expected at all.”
The weather will be similar on Saturday and Sunday, there could be drizzle where the cloud is thickest, Hutin said, and it will still be quite breezy.
Temperatures will be around average, between 6 and 7 ° C.
Mrs Hutin said: “It’s good news for people who have the week off and want to go for a walk.”
