The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday sealed nine hospitals for functioning without building use permission (BU) and for not regularizing their construction under the Gujarat Regularization of Unauthorized Development Act (GRUDA).
The AMC had issued notices asking hospitals to obtain occupation clearance or regularize their buildings, but the owners failed to comply. For public safety reasons, the hospitals (four in south Bopal, two in Juhapura and two in Maktampura, and one in Sarkhej) were sealed.

The AMC has warned that further action will be taken against other establishments, including multiplexes and educational institutions, operating without proper clearances.
