Key initiatives include an additional investment in Tricog Health India and the planned acquisition of JSR Corporation’s Heartnote ECG services business to improve the early detection and prevention of heart failure.
Japan-based medical technology company OMRON Healthcare has unveiled a new global strategy focused on expanding its electrocardiogram (ECG) services.
The initiative aims to strengthen cardiac monitoring and diagnostic capabilities in home and clinical settings as part of its broader “Going for ZERO” vision, which seeks to reduce adverse cerebrovascular and cardiovascular events through early detection and prevention.
Commenting on the expansion initiative, Ayumu Okada, President and CEO of OMRON Healthcare, said: “Addressing the ‘pandemic’ of heart failure and the shortage of cardiovascular specialists requires new approaches. By combining innovative technology with strategic partnerships, we aim to take our cardiovascular business to the next stage and help prevent serious cardiac events before they occur.”
Under the expansion strategy, several key initiatives include an additional investment in Tricog Health India, an AI-powered cardiac technology company, as well as the planned acquisition of JSR Corporation’s Heartnote ECG services business to improve early detection and prevention of heart failure.
The Heartnote is a Holter ECG device equipped with a thin, lightweight, wireless wearable patch that can continuously record cardiac activity for up to seven days and is designed specifically for the aging population in Japan.
The device aims to reduce patient discomfort and improve the detection of rare arrhythmias.
Its rental-based model, combined with analytical support, also seeks to alleviate the workload of medical institutions.
Additionally, the company plans to integrate its ECG-enabled blood pressure monitors with Tricog’s AI-powered InstaECG platform to support remote monitoring services such as KeeboHealth, which is expected to facilitate early intervention for patients at risk of heart failure.
Commenting on the new partnership, Dr Charit Bhograj, CEO, Tricog Health India, said, “AI-powered early diagnosis and proper management can prevent a significant proportion of deaths from heart diseases. By integrating OMRON Healthcare devices with our platform, we can extend advanced cardiac care from hospitals to patients’ homes, helping to close critical gaps in access to timely diagnosis and treatment.”
The company currently offers its products and services in more than 130 countries and has sold more than 400 million blood pressure monitors worldwide to date.
