New findings underline the safety and efficiency of the replacement of artificial discs in the outpatient – Ortho News

Dr. Steven Goldler at the Disco Surgery Center in Marina del Rey
(Los Angeles).

The summary, written by Steven J. Goldler, MD (Disco Surgery Center) summarized data from 1,684 cervical artificial discs implemented in 1,043 patients between 2018 and 2024.

Newport Beach, California, July 31, 2025 / PRNewswire / – Artificial disk replacement (ADR): A procedure used to treat spinal stenosis, the degeneration of the disc and the disc herniation in the cervical spine – it can be performed safely and efficiently at multiple levels in the outpatient environment, according to the results of the newly released investigations. Written by the surgeon of the orthopedic column trained in the clinic, Steven J. Goldler, MD, a summary of these findings summarized six years of patient data during which surgeons of ADR performed surgeons in the locations of the disc centers in Newport Beach and Marina del Rey, California.

The analysis included 1,684 cervical artificial discs implemented in 1,043 patients, reviewing demographic data, ASA classifications, surgical times, patient results and costs. Of the 443 women, 559 men and 1 non -classified patient studied, there were zero immediate postoperative transfers, without blood transfusions and without re -entry within the immediate perioperative period. All patients were discharged at home successfully within 24 hours to begin their recovery.

New findings underline the safety and efficiency of the replacement of artificial discs in the outpatient – Ortho News
The X-rays of flexion-expansion reveal the preservation of the replacement movement of the cervical artificial disc in a patient. Images provided by Dr. Steven Goldler with the patient’s written consent.

Demonstrating ADR’s efficiency as an outpatient procedure regardless of the level, the decomposition of the case included 433 ADR of a single level with an average surgical time of 69.8 minutes; 579 ADR of two levels with an average surgical time of 93.4 minutes; and 31 ADR of three levels with an average surgical time of 131.8 minutes. These data reinforce the mission of the Trasmd Disco Surgery Center so that movement preservation procedures such as this are more accessible to patients while maintaining strict quality guidelines. Read the summary here.

“Combined, these findings reveal the potential for significant cost savings for the health system, benefiting patients, suppliers and payers equally,” said Dr. Girdler. “ADR can now be performed routinely in uncomplicated surgery centers, reducing the need for long stays in the hospital while promoting shorter recovery periods and a faster return to active lives.”

The clinically integrated TriasMD network, Trias Global, has tracked these results in several column surgeons, including Joel S. Beckett, MD, Robert S. Bray, Jr., MD, FaNS, Steven J. Giradler, MD, Brandon Hirsch, MD, Nick Jain, MD, Amer Khalil, MD, Luke Macyszyn, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD. Faje, Caje, Caje, Caje, Caje, Fay Melikian, MD, Ali H. Messiwala, MD, Faans, Todd Peters, MD and Grant D. Shifflett, MD.
